Yes, you're absolutely right.  It makes the ebuild a little more
messy, but still easy enough.  If anyone is interested in mongrel2
Gentoo ebuilds (along with other related software), I plan to maintain
them in an overlay [1].  If someone is already maintaining such an
overlay, please let me know.

Also, my secondary reason for asking about the website maintenance:
the loss of prospective users and contributors because the project
appears stale.  Not everyone monitors projects on Github....
