Hey all,

We recently received more reports of Firefox for Android using excessive
background data:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=761731#c15

This is a problem that consistently plagues us, and we have a meta bug to
track specific issues:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1253346

One of the biggest challenges is figuring out what exactly is using up this
background data. Does anyone have any ideas for strategies we can employ to
help debug issues when users encounter them? Is there any sort of logging
we can add to at least differentiate between data that Firefox itself is
using (e.g. sync, downloadable content) as opposed to websites?

It's frustrating to receive these reports and not know how to act on them.
Let's make it easier for people to give us good bug reports.

Margaret
