With a little adjustment, this email could easily be transformed in to a
letter to local newspapers. What do you think?

HI everybody,
I had read the recent article about Microsoft and its investment of Lm20

million in Malta. Although I am 100% in favour of the EU, I found this
article stupid, bias for the following reasons :

1. Microsoft will not invest Lm20 million in malta, but it will just
give
its products at very cheap prices... If it was the case, Linux is
investing
Billions of Lm in whole world, because it is free for everybody,
including
to commercial entities.

2. M$ is trying to monopolize the students to use their unstable
products,
so that they will bias to its products when they are in the working
world.
When I was a University Student, I had developed applications for both
linux
and windows platforms. I can assure you that I had never spent a penny
for
linux development tools and OSes while I had to pay for M$ stuff.

If I was the government I would think it twice, and still use Linux.
After
all the "free" software from M$ will be supported for free for just 3
years,
while Linux will remain free cause it is open source.
The government (both of them) will remain stuck to M$, cause the cost to

change over will be much more exensive as more time passes by. And the
more
people are used to M$ products the more they will resist the change.

M$'s move is just a marketing offer which wants to increase its
penetartion
in Malta, and to retain and well financed e-goverment project. In the
long
run the government will have to pay licensing and be dependent by one
huge
company. Even NASA uses linux due to its open source and stability, why
should a small government like ours be dependent by M$?

we should write some counter articles in the news papers and show to
everybody that Linux is the most feasible long run option and not a
propriety software like M$ windows and products.

regards
