it's VERY unwise to do, and you should be using it.
The system goes through a lot of effort to prepare daily report and to
check itself over for security issues, and mail you the results. (I
know I'm up too late when at 1:30am I hear a lot of machines start
chattering all around me!)
Put your receiving address in /root/.forward.
These are really, really cool things to have. Even cooler when you put
other things you want to look at in /etc/daily.local.
So, cut down on the number of services you don't use by /using/ this one. :)
Besides, this really falls under the catagory, "If you can't figure out
how to stop sendmail, don't even think of asking". Follow the scripts,
understand how your system runs, and you will learn how to disable
sendmail...then don't do it.
