If they resist change, you have no hope. When I have implemented OpenBSD, it is because I needed to do something quickly, and am supporting it myself. I have set up DNS, reverse proxies, web servers, jabber, application (tomcat) servers, ntp, and others this way.
War stories will never convince them. If you persist on going down this route, make sure you have a quote in hand for 24x7 support of OpenBSD as well. Also make sure you train the rest of the team.
