GENERIC kernel, no SMP (hurts in that case), right amount of RAM (a gig is plenty), good NICs (usually server-grade ems in my case)
Hm, without a SMP enabled kernel the system wouldn't take any advantage of the dual cpu board, right? So a single CPU system would really be the better choice for firewalling services?
