that comes from this code fragment in session.c:session_setup_socket

ttl is initialized to distance, 3 in your case.
why would setsockopt IPV6_HOPLIMIT 3 fail???
you can pbly get away with just #if 0'ing that code block (or change
the first line to "if (0 && p->conf.ebgp && ..."), but I still don't
understand what the problem is.
