You have no nameserver lines in your resolv.conf file(s); how does
your resolver library know who to consult for resolution?

from man resolv.conf(5):

"If no nameserver entries are present, the default is to use the name server on the local machine."

Also, as you will notice from my email, resolution does work most of the time.

I have just added 'nameserver 127.0.0.1' and rebooted, to no avail.
