This sounds like an Xfinity problem to me. I am by no means a networking
expert but if Xfinity could not reach the modem, which is the first
thing their cable connects to, then I don't see how your firewall or
unbound could be the culprit.

Xfinity's first response being "it's your fault" is standard, in my
experience.
