And inspired by your mail with patch I tried
action "lmtp-local" mda "/usr/libexec/mail.lmtp -d unix:/var/dovecot/lmtp -f
%{sender} %{rcpt.user}" virtual <vusers>
which resulted in
("mail.lmtp: LMTP server error: 550 5.1.1 <root> User doesn't exist: root\^M")
so there's progress, but I have no idea how to deal with DOS line
endings here.
