Something supporting USB Communications Device Class: Mobile Broadband
Interface Model (umb driver) would be best. umsm is old crap.

Given the different band use in different countries, I think a soldered
module would be unwise unless the device is targetted at a particular
market. You're looking at what, 3 or 4 variants presently? My vote would
be for a mPCIe NGFF slot and a SIM carrier on the board hooked up to it.
