I don't have an ipad, but I do have a couple of Android devices (phone, tablet) that do not attach as disks either. For those I've found that the most convenient way to transfer files (photos etc) from the device to my OpenBSD machines is to use an SFTP or SCP client. I imagine there are several such applications available for the ipad too. -- Peter N. M.
