I've connected a Kyocera FS-920 to my router and all hosts (*bsd, mac,
win) do their printing on it (just b&w needed). Done the configuration
years ago with the help of apsfilter:
lp|PS;r=600x600;q=medium;c=gray;p=a4;m=auto:\
:lp=/dev/ulpt0:\
:if=/etc/apsfilter/basedir/bin/apsfilter:\
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp:\

lpd is not very chatty when it comes to errors, though.
