Many thanks for the suggestions on executing acpidump and building the kernel with ACPI_DEBUG enabled. Regrettably, I presently don't have access to the Acer Aspire 3630 so it will take a few weeks to post an update on this. I'll make sure to follow up at the next opportunity.
