I really don't understand where you see a connection with the AMD64 architecture in my original post... Well, maybe I see: I wrote "amd (automounter)" instead of "amd(8)"... I indeed reported that amd(8) is using NFSv2 (see also the subject!), and [1] is confirming the lack of NFSv3 support. Regarding the patch, I applied it, but it's not fully functional (mount is ok, but there are some RPC issues, at least with my configuration); I don't know if that's related to the variable size file handles problem mentioned by pguenther@ or not; I was thinking to do a follow-up in the bug thread.
