Hello misc@, I tried to update www/newsbeuter to 2.8, and I thought it would be easy, considering that all of the patches to 2.7 had been merged upstream, so there was no need for any of them. I updated the Makefile and tried to compile newsbeuter 2.8, only to find it uses the libc function wordexp, which is not implemented in OpenBSD.
I found this mail on the matter from 2010: http://marc.info/?l=openbsd-tech&m=127058619519298&w=2 Has the situation changed since then? There seem to be a lot of projects using wordexp now, what can be done about it? To me, it looks like the only option is to send patches to all of the projects using wordexp and get them to stop using it, but that's not practical. Isn't there something else that can be done, or is getting everyone to stop using it the only option? -- Kaashif Hymabaccus GPG: 2048R/3E810B04
