There are other things to worry about if you are running 5.1, what about that use-after-free race condition openssl has that is patched in 5.3, 5.4 and 5.5 version? To say nothing of many other things that affect security outside of openssl problems. if you care, why not run version that is maintained and patched, by upgrading every year at least?
