Dear Optical Drive Experts,
Since my MO drive does not work reliably any longer,
I have decided to get the new backupdevice
PAN-LKM-KB23 Panasonic ADA drive
which can read and write, for instance,
LM-AD 240 LE Panasonic 9.4GB DVD-RAM media,
PAN-LM-BED25B Panasonic 25GB ADA media.
1. To convince myself that the new drive works at all
with DVD-RAM, I have checked this by writing an ISO
image with the third-party package "cdrtools-3.00":
$ mkisofs -o /tmp/cd.iso -R -J Videos

2. Writing the ISO image to the ADA disk, which is nothing else
than a BD-RAM in a cartridge, does not work with "cdrtools-3.00"
but at least with brutality:
$ sudo dd if=/tmp/cd.iso of=/dev/rcd0c bs=32k
3. Question: In FAQ 13.10.3 there is a remark that DVD-RAM
media allows to be used like a kind of a optical hard disk
but no further hint how to do it. Does it mean: Instead of
packing data into ISO images, is there a way to format
these media with an OpenBSD file system to read and write
to it like to usual hard disk?
4. Here you find the corresponding dmesg:
