The message pops up when the checksums stored in bsd.rd does not match the set it is asked to install. The most likely cause is that you did not copy the new bsd.rd to / before booting. I have a few notes on upgrading at http://bsdly.blogspot.ca/2012/07/keeping-your-openbsd-system-in-trim.html (a 'works for me' guide, sort of oriented towards going snapshot to snapshot, but the steps are the same in almost all cases). *Do* remember to at least skim the upgrade notes relevant to your version, though. - Peter -- Peter N.
