I have gone as far as taking physical pictures of the screen with the ps, trace, and dmesg on it, then posted the pictures to picasa or someplace like that, so they could be viewable by everyone. It's not perfect, but laptops don't have a serial capture (at least, Dell's don't). You can use a camera phone, or if you are desperate, a camera...
