OpenSSL 0.9.8 was released only two days ago. Because it is a significant change, it probably won't be in OpenBSD before 3.9. OpenBSD -current (to be 3.8) includes 0.9.7g.
I've cvs up'd and recompiled the whole system just now and openssl remains at 0.97d.
Correct - we don't replace slabs of software in stable releases. We just patch the actual problems. -d
