No, it's impossible. 2 ** 32 = 4GB so the whole system is limited to 4GB in total and there's 1GB (or 2GB) which is not usable by applications.
The only solution is to move to 64bit applications. Actually the limitation on memory allocations is the main reason for the creation of 64bit systems.
