It was my own stupidity, not having set the right option to CONFIG in the
pro file.

I built qt4.7.1 static lib on Win7 ago, but I have no your problem.

Maybe your build process has some problems?

Well,
I just used the Fedora-17 packages, `I can hardly believe that I am the
very first one to use these, so
most likely I am doing something stupid or (alternatively) forgetting to do
something useful.
Again, any help in letting me find libraries containing definitions for
missing symbols is appreciated
