mhwave is now per default starting in 'decompress' mode.
but try to change the setting to 'direct acces' and than back again to
'decompress'.
here at some point, after changing the setting 1 or 2 times, mhwave
will
always remember the setting 'direct acces'. also, looking into the
config file, i ll always see 'sndfileOggMode = 0', even if i change it
to 'decompress' and quit mhwave regularly via the menu.
changing this manually, by editing the config file to
'sndfileOggMode =
1' i am in the 'decompress' mode again, and the playback is good, but
doing this from the gui/config dialog does not work here.
are you able to reproduce this?
No, I haven't been able to reproduce this.
mhwaveedit should save the config file when you exit the program. If
you start it from a terminal, could you check that it doesn't crash
or print error messages when you exit and this happens?
anyway, this is a huge progress, since not being able to play long
.ogg
files very well was a huge regression.
Glad to hear that it helped!

Magnus

hello,
when i removed the original config file, while first time changing
from decompress to direct access, when i pressed 'ok' in the dialog
box, i saw the message 'the changes will take effect after restarting
mhwave', but this message appeared only one time. later changing the
mode, i did not saw this message again.
every next time i changed the mode, in the moment pressing 'ok' in
the dialog, i get this 2 lines:
(mhwaveedit:15399): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid uninstantiatable
type `(null)' in cast to `GtkComboBox'
(mhwaveedit:15399): Gtk-CRITICAL **: IA__gtk_combo_box_get_active:
assertion `GTK_IS_COMBO_BOX (combo_box)' failed
i am getting this lines also when using the original config file with
custom colors.
also, if i first type 'unset LANG' into terminal, mhwave is running
'in english' but the behavior is the same.
i just tried, and i see this two lines what ever dialog i am closing...
so i think this is not related to the original problem at all.
i can live with this situation very good, cause i am gonna edit the
config file to use the decompress mode i do not gonna change it again.
but generally, it would be good to clear this up.
cheers,
doc
sorry for bombing the list, but sice i just lost my old config file (my
own fault..) i am realizing that also the window geometry does not gets
restored, mhwave always use the 'windowGeometry = 0_0_1023_262' value,
no matter in which size i close it.
gonna comile the last release now to get an working config file back.
cheers,
doc
the program is exiting normally, no segfault or such.
would be good, if someone else from the list could try, so we see if
this is only on my box or somewhere else too. i am running aptosid,
which is a debian sid derivative.
let me know if i can do something else to find out what is going on.
cheers,
doc
