By hacking the module. That might work. I was thinking of an external
program though, that could monitor what some other program was doing.

I was really referring to Mesa here. For example, does Mesa internally
follow the structure of the OpenGL pipeline with hooks to allow device
drivers to take over various bits? Is there a nice overview of the
various directories and what they do? I'm one of those poor sods who
gets terribly confused if he can't see the big picture.
