All the work I've done to make Glide3x work under the DRI is already
incorporated into Mesa. It isn't the default, but if you change the
compile switches it works. The Glide3 work was actually done for the Mac
version, and I updated it.
Using Glide3x doesn't provide much in the way of inherent performance
improvements. The way we're using it now, it is basically that glide2x
calls are getting translated into Glide3x. Glide3x does have some useful
new features, but they will require someone to write some good code to
take advantage of it.
Right now there isn't much development going on for the FX driver other
than what I've done. If other people want to jump in, they're welcome
to.
