FWIW, I really prefer Erik's because the corners of the 'M' align so perfectly with the centers of the gears. It says "Mesa is what makes the gears turn" to me :) In general I like your font better, but I don't think it can align with the centers of the gears. Also, Erik's is animated not with JavaScript at all, but just CSS.
