With most codes, I would normally be happy with just using the git tag but most of the issues I run into tend to be build issues, which in the case of Mesa, folllows a differnt path for tarballs than for git trees. I wouldn't spend too much time on it. I can always just make the source taball myself to test with. - Chuck
