Get a grip guys.
There is no "world standard".
Even each EU country has different standards, CE, EU or whatever not
withstanding.
And it would be ridiculous for the US to give up its standards and adopt
some other country's standards as if they are pure and simple and right.
Look into the standard from any other country and you can spot features that
are pure protectionism.  Those features would provide no benefit
to 'mericans.

In recent years, I have done projects in countries in North America, South
America, Europe, Asia and Africa.  I now like to do engineering work in
metric units.  But I can't say the building, electrical, fuel. piping or
other standards of other countries make any more sense than ASTM, API NEC
etc. used in the US.
