Turns out it was a bug in MIC2, upgrading to the latest version available from gitorious solves this. I've opened https://bugs.meego.com/show_bug.cgi?id=22288 to track this (i.e. request to upgrade MIC2 package available in MeeGo 1.2 repositories).
