I was very surprised to find that the gpsd version in the MeeGo
repositories is completely out of date. The release tarball is from
2008-02-17. So we are on 2.37 and the latest is 2.96 (2011-03-21).
This obviously creates quite a few problems for people trying to
compile modern applications that are using gpsd. This package looks
like it got sadly forgotten as the last entry in the changelog is :

* Sat Jan 24 2009 Anas Nashif <[email protected]> 2.37
- Initial import into Moblin

So i ported the latest gpsd to home:brendan:branches:Trunk using
spectacle and suddenly my opencpn compile errors dissapeared! Are
there any valid reasons for using this acient version of GPSD around?
Or can I file a bug and make an SR to push this new version to
Trunk:Testing?

I've tested this new version and it works great with my u-blox GPS.

Cheers,
Brendan
