You are missing the original question: "How to give developpers a way to create one-size-fits-all package?"


Zypper repos are great if you have the time and resources to put them up and maintain. If you are for "here's a one-time download link for my app", repo is not that great of an idea.

actually .. the .repo file is what you offer in that case.
