For me the reception has been always good, and the Maemo 5 browser is better 
than on any other shipping Nokia phone (and with more features than certain 
competitors.) However I truly agree about the 
maps, simply being too slow. I don't see Nokia opening that part enough for 
third parties to start improving the performance there. Maybe Marble with a 
(huge load of) performance optimizations would 
one day be the solution?

My opinion is that the N900 HW is capable of anything I need, but the SW is not 
quite there. But that can be improved, right? :)
