Just FYI, I'm experiencing a similar issue with MeeGo Handheld for
N900, I can only see the commands/output when the window is 'zoomed
out' in the task switcher.
I found a workaround for this somewhat accidentally. Start xterm and
blindly start another xterm from it (i.e. type "xterm" followed by
return). Now put the (first) xterm into the switcher by tapping in the
upper left corner. Once in the switcher, tap on the window of the xterm
to bring it back, and voila, you have a prompt and the xterm command you
just issued. Press ctrl-z to stop the (second) xterm and there you go.
I'm sure there are other way to accomplish this, but this is the one I
stumbled on. I think the underlying reason is a bug in the compositor,
which for some reason does not manifest itself when there are more windows.
