A few questions and request for opinions...

I currently do (small) amounts of maintenance on the jhbuild moduleset
for MeeGo netbook:

http://meego.gitorious.org/meego-netbook-ux/meego-jhbuild-netbook

This is based on GNOME's jhbuild and enables you to build libraries in a
"sandbox" style environment, away from your standard system libraries
(but making use of the system's *-devel libraries if the version is high
enough etc.). It doesn't cross-compile or anything fancy like that.

I use this myself to keep up to date with Mx and Clutter, and know one
or two other people also use it.

However, it currently breaks far too frequently, as it is still based on
the GNOME 2.30 modulesets; which in turn don't always work well (when
used in the MeeGo jhbuild environment some modules end up tracking
master, which can cause version and dependency problems).

So, what I'd like to know is:

1. Is anyone else using this?

2. Is it worth reworking to support two or more modulesets: bleeding
edge MeeGo netbook (tracking GNOME more closely but potentially breaking
more often); as well as far more stable MeeGo netbook versions (with the
versions in the moduleset tracking the MeeGo library versions as closely
as possible)?

3. Is it worth maintaining? Or is there some way to make use of the
existing build infrastructure to do more of the work (esp. tracking
library versions and dependencies)?

And a suggestion:

At the very least, it should be reworked to use the Clutter jhbuild
modulesets.

Thought I'd put it out there, in case anyone is interested or has a
stake in it.

Comments etc. encouraged.

Thanks.
Elliot
