Can I make a point from an external developer about HTML5 support. Whilst
it's interesting that firefox does support many HTML5 features, it is not
very useful to an external developer unless firefox is pre-installed and the
default browser. So, can I request that MeeGo's default browser supports
HTML5 please. You need to complete with those other people who do support
HTML5 better than even firefox does; please consider this, its very
important to me and many other external developers.
Thanks
Robin

I believe that there is support for some of the HTML5 features in the
webkit implementation that comes in QT. Additionally, Firefox supports
HTML5. As Mozilla is already supporting the N900, it is very likely that
they will support MeeGo as well.

Hi,
Here's my two cents:
I found that in an interview with Anssi Vanjoki, EVP of Markets at
Nokia, he said:
MeeGo and Symbian have "Qt and common Web Runtime as the unifying layer
for 85% of application and service development."

I don't know any similar project from the Moblin side (please correct
me if I'm wrong), and Nokia is actually porting WRT to Maemo, So my
best guess is that the WRT from Nokia is to be integrated into MeeGo.
About HTML5, I don't know how much it would be supported as it's still
a draft now. I feel it's too early to make any conclusions now. But I
do believe those already supported by QtWebKit would be included by WRT
(why not as WRT can get these nice features out of the box?).

Subject: [MeeGo-dev] WRT(s) and html5 in MeeGo?
Hi,
I am interested in WRT's in MeeGo, both browser and widget runtimes
support, and I am waiting for more info
from Nokia and Intel about this but would also like to know the
communities thoughts about this area.
Now, I am following the html5 developments in whatwg and of course also
what Google does in in ChromeOS.
HTML5 has stuff in it that requires what I think is a bit deeper
integration between the browser (web core) and
the middleware/os than html4. I am for instance thinking about the
audio and video element.
So, the Q's I have to the community (and I guess to Nokia and Intel as
well) are:
1. How do the MeeGo community (including Nokia and Intel) look upon the
role of WRT's in MeeGo in general
and html5 in particular? Which role do WRT's play in MeeGo vision?
2. Which WRT's should/will be included in MeeGo?
Looking forward to the responses and in the future, some nice projects
in the area, :-)
I am new to meego (and moblin/maemo) so it may be that I've missed
something obvious- if so, thanks for
references and other tips for more info.
Regards
Göran
