We are using it to enter CSR Sterilization Records and Tray Assembly Workload.
Equipment = Sterilizer Load and Assembler day

In other settings I have used it for:

- Maintenance

- Biomedical/Clinical Engineering
Limitations are that there is no built in, online, end user interface. ie a
work order
"requisition" that doesn't rely on the entry of the Equipment Number.
But if Phone or an OE "Order" is set up, you can get by a lot of the
limitations.

- Routine Patient Room PM. Bar codes are stuck on the windows or door frames.
  All trades are scheduled.
Nursing and Admitting knows which rooms will be unavailable ahead of time so
they can be
emptied and kept that way if possible.

- Tracking which patients are on which Pumps, etc for purposes of Daily
charging (there's a
slick link to BAR) and compliance with SMDA requirements.

- Building a QC system for Environmental Services. "Equipment" = Nursing unit.
 Work Order
= Inspection. Heavy use of CDS and NPR to record Quality scores and
calculate/display
them over time. Lack of a unique Location Dictionary is a bit of a hurdle.

- At a minimum, use the Contract piece to produce tickler reports for
Purchasing to begin
negotiating contracts before they expire. Nothing else has to be entered.

Barcoding of stuff and other info (qty, location, etc) is a definate plus. MM
Component
(Comma) search also works to ease conversion issues. The best barcode label is
one that
is compatible with the cleaning requirements of any clinical equipment that
will be tracked
in The Equipment Management System (usually thermal/resin).

And ones I haven't thought of.
