Likely. $wgScriptPath is the path to index.php
So if you had it at /descriptive/index.php and now it has to be accessed
as /w/index.php then change $wgScriptPath to that :)

For determining if it's exactly your problem I would need more
information (the paths, the url where you are seeing it, etc.).

You *only* change LocalSettings.php, not the other mediawiki files.
