I really thank you for this hint. That was exactly the problem. Now it
works flawlessly. This was also the point I wondered about that I
don't have the same buttons within the editor than wikipedia has.

So is it generally recommended to use the development trunk version of
extensions even when I have mediawiki 1.16.0 and not the svn version
in use?

I always took the adapted version of the extensions.
