Hi Tim,

I'm not sure, if this is what you want:

While
[[File:image.jpg]] or [[Image:image.jpg]] gives you a link to the Image 
Page,

with
[[Media:image.jpg|text]] you can generate a text-link directely to the 
picture on a blank page

and
[[File:image.jpg|link=]] has the effect of a picture with no link-action.
