I purchased their product and am reasonably pleased with it. Although I am
an experienced software developer, I have not worked at the hardware level
so I can't give a fair assessment as to how difficult it is to write your
own software. My guess is that it would be difficult as the timing of
commands sent to the dongle would be somewhat critical (I highly doubt the
dongle has a command buffer). The unit does work as advertised, but I have
seen numerous glitches, some of which were caused by my lack of
understanding of what was truly going on. Others, simply unexplainable. My
only guess is because of timing issues between the software and my MZ-R900.
The current software is functional but very poor as far as usability goes.
I've spoken with the designer and he tells me that a new version should be
out shortly which includes numerous new features. I've inquired if he would
consider wrapping the engine/driver in an ActiveX control so that people
like me could write my own custom software to suit my needs. He blatantly
ignored that question.
I am also under the impression that the hardware he is selling is different
than the DIY instructions he first posted on his web site. The site implied
that the commercial unit supported more features.
