Evidently, the DPA stands for Digital Picture Album. It has a number of
features designed for managing and capturing JPEG images shot through
the deck using a camcorder on a MD Data 1 disc, then hooked up to an
NTSC television. (Five MD Data discs are included with each unit. Each
disc holds 1,000 fine images (128k each), 2,000 standard images (64k
each) or 365 images (128k each) plus 40 minutes of audio. Backwards
compatible with standard MD audio. No digital in or out, composite video
in/out, S-Video in/out, RCA audio in/out. No display on the unit, so it
would be like playing a cassette again with no titles or time, track,
etc. displayed-although you are supposed to be able to title discs (9
characters) title albums within the disc (6 characters) and captions of
images. (125 characters per image). Will also record MP3 files, MIDI
files, etc. The guy on E-Bay has six of these units. Do a search for
Sony Pro MiniDisc on the E-Bay website if interested.
