Our laboratory in the UCSF Division of Vascular Surgery is seeking individuals to
participate in basic science research involving the cellular and molecular mechanisms
of vascular disease. We are seeking a hard-working, motivated individual(s) who wish
to enhance their research experience and gain exposure to an academic surgical
environment. This will require a commitment of at least one year for dedicated
laboratory research and is particularly suited for those students seeking subsequent
entry to either medical school or graduate school in the biomedical sciences. There is
also potential opportunity to observe complex vascular surgery and learn about the
treatment of cardiovascular disease.

The primary focus of the laboratory is defining intracellular mechanisms by which
nitric oxide regulates proliferation and gene expression in vascular cells. This
position will involve considerable independence and the potential for presentation and
authorship. Salary and benefits will be within the standard range as determined by
institutional guidelines and applicant experience. Individuals must have prior
research experience and preference will be given to those with established molecular
biology skills. Interested individuals should contact (preferably by email):
