I first reported this problem in 2007 and did not receive any response, so I
am reposting the issue.

In MasonErrorMode output a simple safe mode error like "Global symbol
"$test" requires explicit package name" we get a blank page. When using
MasonErrorMode fatal and also when testing under Apache::DB we get the
expected error message.
Please see my previous post for the specifics. We have continued to have
this problem on Fedora14, ubuntu and FreeBSD.
