It is a brave position that you outline.

My feelings are almost exactly the same as yours.

I was born in the immediate aftermath after WWII.

Because of Huerta and, yes, Cesar Chavez, I stopped eating grapes for 30
years to support the UFW.  Even after the win, force of habit compelled me
to continue to avoid.

Paraphrase:  "The evil that men do lives long after them, the good is often
interred with their bones."
