First of all, regarding the motivation for the attack on Iran: I agree that desire to distract from the Epstein files is part of it as is Trump's megalomania. But when the Wall St. Journal editorial board continually warns Trump not to stop the war too soon, then something else is afoot. I think that the main drive behind the war is drive for complete dominance of SWANA.
As for Israel's influence on US policy: We know that the infantile mind of Trump makes him easily manipulated. He has two close allies - Putin and Netanyahu, and he's probably closer to the latter. So, yes, I think Netanyahu has manipulated him to a degree. But the claim that Israel controls US foreign policy is in fact anti-Semitic. It's more of the idea that there is a hidden cabal that is manipulating everybody, and that cabal is "the Jews". US capitalism supports Israel because that is the only ally in that important region upon which they can really rely. Biden made that clear in his speech back in 1986. Kent is firmly entrenched in the fascist-inclined populist wing of the MAGA movement. That is the wing of such figures as Tucker Carlson (on whose show Kent appeared the day after he resigned), Nick Fuentes and groups like Patriot Prayer and the Proud Boys. I think he sensed which way the winds are blowing - towards sending troops into Iran - and wanted out before there was an even greater rebellion from that wing of MAGA. Finally, I think many on the left tend to ignore the threat of genuine anti-semitism. They have heard the charge thrown around so much, applied to any opponent of Zionism, that they tend to dismiss the issue. I also think that many of us simply have not lived in that section of the population for whom anti-Semitic beliefs are as natural as breathing in and out. It's so natural that in most cases it goes unsaid. But it is now starting to be mobilized, used politically. The danger is that many on the left will be willing to make common cause with the Nazi-inclined anti Semitic forces who direct all their ire against Israel. We see it in the acceptance of the claim by many on the left that Epstein was a Mossad agent. There were top Israeli leaders in Epstein's web? So what? So was (former) Prince Andrew, other European royalty, Saudi arms dealer Adnan Kashoggi, some Putin officials, Bill Gates and Bill Clinton. In fact, it would probably be easier to name the top capitalists and capitalist leaders who were NOT in the Epstein web than naming those who were. If his name had been O'Leary or Gutierrez that claim that he was a Mossad agent never would have been made.
