Have ridden the LA metrolink, subway and light rail. All are very fast, clean
and well used. The system(s) there continue to be expanded.

BART is facing problems, due mainly to the way the state funds it. The BART
Board is threatening to drastically limit service or shut it down completely if
a tax increase currently on the November ballot fails to pass. The system
should be funded directly from the State's general fund, which could assure
steady funding and reduce the high cost of tickets.

The state itself has been trying to build a "bullet train" from Los Angeles to
Sacramento for many years but very little of it has been built.
