I've been doing some exploring associated with getting the google maps layer working and believe I may have discovered the issue. Last year, Google changed its Google Maps Premier API requirements. Previously, you either had no client key if you were below a certain number of daily map loads, and you had to purchase a client ID if you were over that limit.
What Google now requires is that if you are below a certain number of daily map loads, you are not a Premier API user and you have to use an API key instead of a client ID but the service is free. No google maps layer will load without the API key. If you qualify as a Premier user, then you still pay for the license and have a client ID instead of the API key. It appears that MGOS only accepts a client ID, so unless you are on a paid Google subscription, there is no way to use the google maps layer anymore, as the API key is not recognized by google as a valid client key. It throws the error: Am I correct; is it true that MGOS will only accept a client ID? Also, has anyone successfully used an API key for Google Maps Javascript API with MGOS 2.6? Kind Regards, Lisa Weber
