Jolin,

What version are you using? On my version - 2.0 Beta (6272) as noted, while I
rarely use the Change Subject menu (MM Menu>Commands>Change Subject), there are
specific caveats expressed in a pop-up when using it regarding the replacement
of the item on the server and other caveats to pay attention to when using this
command.

One of them may affect your use and be the cause of a MM crash if your server
is uncooperative, I suspect.

In my case however, adding a “ 2” to your message’s subject line (on the list)
worked fine for me after a brief pause for server synch.

It is attached below. It was changed only on my IMAP server, BTW, and not in
the MailMate forum server so your sender doesn’t see it, most likely.

My system details follow. Hope this process is of some help to you in
troubleshooting:
* Confirm the issue is affected by version updates.
* Compare the specific issue with different OS versions if possible (related to
the external causes).
* Log in with a different user to see if replication occurs on the same
hardware (related to the external causes).
* Save your current settings. Then try clean install of same version of MM.
* Try updating the version to the latest. Then, re-import your settings.

I occasionally use the ‘Change Subject’ command in MailMate to clean up an
email’s subject or add one if it’s blank. I find it very useful. However, on
some messages it causes MailMate to crash and fails to change the subject. It
seems to happen when a message has an attachment but I’m not sure if this is
the trigger; in the past I haven’t systematically noted whether or not a
message that caused a crash had an attachment or not. Is anyone else
experiencing this or is it a quirk of my particular setup?
