Jolin, What version are you using? On my version - 2.0 Beta (6272) as noted, while I rarely use the Change Subject menu (MM Menu>Commands>Change Subject), there are specific caveats expressed in a pop-up when using it regarding the replacement of the item on the server and other caveats to pay attention to when using this command.
One of them may affect your use and be the cause of a MM crash if your server is uncooperative, I suspect. In my case however, adding a “ 2” to your message’s subject line (on the list) worked fine for me after a brief pause for server synch. It is attached below. It was changed only on my IMAP server, BTW, and not in the MailMate forum server so your sender doesn’t see it, most likely. *** My system details follow.
