I’ve always been able to swap the older one back in with no issues.  If anyone else has had a different experience, please share.

Yep. Just unpack it and copy the resultant binary into your /Applications folder (or wherever you have it installed).

Seems to be working for me on my 2019 Intel MBP running Sonoma 14.1.1. Still, it goes without saying that the usual caveats apply with these early test builds.
